Food Fads
Over the years there have been so many fad diets which promise fast weight loss and results. Many of them are the same diet but rebranded under a different name and endorsed by a different celebrity. Diets promise a lot, but there is nothing more effective than consistently keeping up with a healthy lifestyle combining exercise and eating well.
Diets in the last decade
You need a diet plan which is practical for you and that will help promote lasting change. Taking some elements from diets can be beneficial.
Here are some of the most popular diets we’ve seen over the last decade:
Intermittent Fasting
A really popular trend that has swept the nation in the last few years is intermittent fasting, the idea of having certain periods where you can eat. Different people believe different time scales are the most effective to lose weight. The 16/8 method involves beginning to eat at 12 pm and finishing at 8 pm, with fasting in between. The 5:2 diet involves having 5 days of healthy eating, with 2 days where the individual can only eat a certain number of calories. For women, that’s a recommended 500 calories whilst men have 600. These can be consumed in lighter meals. For a more intense diet, some individuals fast or eat a low number of calories, every other day. Fasting can be really effective for some people but not work for others, it’s all about finding what’s best for you.
Keto diet
The keto diet has been hugely popular in the last year. This involves a high-fat low carb diet which has caused many to drop several dress sizes. The science behind it is that when your body is being restricted from carbs, it goes its ketosis. A state where you burn fat because your body doesn’t have enough carbohydrates to burn energy. Like with any restrictive diet, there can be risks and it is suggested the keto diet isn’t sustainable for long term use.
Weight Loss Supplements
As well as diets, there are a variety of weight loss supplements which people swear by. Replacements or additions to meals can be beneficial for weight loss, but like anything need to be monitored.
The Cambridge diet
The Cambridge diet isn’t the first weight loss scheme that involves purchasing shakes and bars along with a restrictive pattern to lose weight. The likes of Slim-Fast and other brands have pushed good weight loss results with their products. There are six steps within four stages to each Cambridge Weight Plan program: preparation, weight loss, stabilisation and long-term weight management. It is recommended that the Cambridge Diet is only completed with medical supervision due to its restrictive nature.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar isn’t just for cooking. This fermented apple juice can be utilised all over the body, for the hair, for infections and for weight loss. Adding a tablespoon to a glass of water or tea before drinking can result in weight loss. Enjoy this concoction once a day to begin seeing benefits.
Developing good eating habits doesn’t just happen overnight. Focusing on finding what works for you will help you find a balance in your life. Everyone can have a treat now and then, and restricting yourself constantly can lead to you feeling miserable. Trial and error is a great way to find what makes you feel good, so find what works for your body and go with it.
